This and i had no idea why i was reading it... I was working in a hotel store and was selling magazines, newspaper etc...it got boring..i opened SI and was offended by the title .. but the read was interesting tho..

I remember reading around april..not sure if it wasnt an unsold copie

Glad you posted this. it’s be bugging me out on SM when I read Bron hate and some of it be “I hate Lebron cuz he named himself THE CHOSEN ONE”

it’s like stupid idiot, he never said that….. it was a Magazine cover and editor that did that. It’s call “Head Line Copy” in the journalistic world

Never heard anyone say he called himself that outside of Skip

I first heard about him early in his Senior year when the hype was ramping up. Decided to watch when his game was televised on ESPN or ESPN2. I didn't care about his athleticism because we had seen these super athletic busts before. It was his passing ability that had me take notice thinking the hype might be legit on him.

Slam Magazine had an article on him at least a year or close to the SI cover when he was going into his junior year I think. I believe it was 2001 or so and I believe Mike was on the cover. If it wasn't him it was Shaq.

You know who had crazy hype...Stephon Marbury.Slam Mag had me thinking he was the literal PG.He was the whole reason I started watching college basketball.His hype seems to be forgotten, tho.

Exaclty, I must've been at the dentist or doctor office and saw this cover. I picked it up and read it. Said he sounds like a good kid but I doubt he'll live up to the hype.

That was literally the only time I was wrong. Any other HS player they hyped up either never made the NBA or became a role player at best.
