I always knew it was real but I figured it would basically be like the swine flu, bird flu, Ebola, etc. Basically life would be the same but just take precautions. It got really real to me when the NBA canceled the rest of the season.

breh, you a RRT. How are you keeping safe ?

Personally I'm good. I've always been OD when it comes to protecting myself with handwashing, PPE, etc but my hospital has changed significantly. Everyone entering the hospital MUST be checked for a fever, every patient is allowed only ONE visitor and that visitor has to be 18 and older. Unless your an employee you cannot leave the hospital and come back after 8PM until 8AM.

One of the ICUs I used to work has been converted to a covid 19 unit. I think they have two-three patients in there.

If a patient is droplet precaution instead of the mask being on the door you have to check one out from the unit secretary. Apparently some employees have been taking some home and have gotten fired for it. I don't know if it's true or not about the firing.

Surprisingly though our census is actually down. I figured people are not coming in unless they have flu like symptoms which is good.

My manager is trying to get me to go to a special facility that will only treat covid patients if the pandemic gets worse. It's essentially $50 an hour when you add shift differentials and shyt. I'm hoping it doesn't get that bad but if necessary I might sign up for it. I don't need the money but it would be nice to have.

I knew it was potentially trouble when it first started coming up in articles back in December. Any disease getting compared in any way to SARS is something to pay attention to. Still, I kept it in the back of my mind because they were still juelzing about it jumping from person to person. I was hoping it'd be like Bird Flu.

When I saw the number of infected people continuing to climb and then the confirmation that human-to-human transmission was occurring in January, that's when I knew we were in real danger. At that point, I figured it was only a matter of when the first infections were confirmed in different places around the world, including here in the US. The only question then was how prepared would we be to counter it.

I forgot this is the darkest timeline though, so of course this administration was as ill prepared as they could possibly be and kept its head in the sand about it, so of course this is the outcome :francis:

I knew it was real when China was scrambling back in December. Then when I heard Trump call it "fake news" and a "democratic hoax", I knew it was only a matter of time before all hell broke loose.

When Trump basically said there was nothing to be concerned about, that made me :patrice:

When I saw it slowly spread to multiple states, I was :whoo:

When I found out in a matter of minutes that Tom Hanks got it and Rudy Gobert had it and that the NBA season would be suspended, I was :damn:
