He's had the best solo career of any rapper ever, has the best discography of all time, one of the best lyricists ever, and is a great live performer.

That being said, it was clear to me after Magna Carta Holy Grail that it was time for me to stop checking for dude.

The way the album was released made me feel the project was mainly a money grab before I even heard it. Once I got to hear the album, it was obvious to me that dude was gone. He took all the "Luxury Rap" shyt he was talking about on WTT and took it up another level. Dedicating entire songs to high end designer clothes and modern art was too much for me, on top of using that lazy ass flow most of the album (UHHHH! Basquiats and Warhols/ UHHHH! On a yacht ya Boy balls). I felt like he cared more about business than music after that.

Then, he lost me even more with the elevator beatdown, focusing too much on RocNation Sports, the sloppy way he rolled out Tidal, only to cop pleas after it flopped, and constantly referring to himself as a genius and an icon.

I'll always respect him based off his career as a whole, but the idea of new music from Jay Z doesn't excite me at all. I don't think dude can drop a quality project anymore.

Come on now yall, homie is a decent guy and I dont understand the negativity towards him. He does alot for his people and him being in the position hes in is important for black folk. I cant participate in tearing down black excellence anymore, the stakes are too high. Lets support the successful among us and get more of us to that same level.
