Inspired by that Illmatic 21 thread I read today ... Nas was the first rapper I truly ever thought when I heard him rap. Of course at the time I was still in that early listening stages, bumping Pharoahe Monch, Wu-Tang (Ghostface and GZA were almost at that Nas level), Kool G Rap, AZ ... couple others.


So Nas wasn't my GOAT then but then by the time I got I Am and heard...

When "Nas Is Like" came out, that's when I started paying attention to Nas seriously. I had heard "It Was Written" a year or two earlier and thought: "meh... very well written but overall, meh."

Nas is Like is the first Nas joint I couldn't stop playing.
