http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/player/_/stat/passing/sort/passingYards/year/2003

Lets go back to 2003 when Ty Law mugged the shyt out of Murder Marv in the AFC title game, Polian bytched and got the rules changed

2003:
  • 2 QB's threw over 4,000 Yards
  • Only 1 QB had over 30TD and that was Favre and he had 21Int's,
  • Steve McNair led the league in QBR with 100
  • Tom Brady led the Pats to their 2nd SB threw for 60%/3,500yds/23TD/12Int
2013
  • 9 QB's threw over 4,000 yards
  • 5 QB's had over 30TD, Would have been 6 but Nick Foles didn't start
  • A 100QBR would have been best for 8th

This year it's even worse that Illegal contact bullshyt

Peyton would have broken Favre's record regardless but you got all these Frauds at QB, who are going to break records.

i dont think thats the correct usage of an asterik... its a transparent change in the game that everyone is aware of.

Would you put an asterisk beside every nba player on the top 50 all time scoring list that came after the advent of the 3-point line?

The nature of sports is dynamic it is what it is... very few records can ever stand the test of time...

No one talks about context in football. It baffles me.
a few reasons

NFL Records dont matter that much. Its nice that Manning broke the TD record, but that shyt was never a big deal. I remember when Marino broke it, and it was a huge deal in Miami, but barely anything nationally.

NFL analysts and commentators are mostly meat heads.

they should. It changed scoring in the sport dramatically.

When u realize Eli Manning may have better stats than Warren Moon or John Elway... These stats been had a *.

Peyton Manning is the goat qb tho. I cant even fight it. He does too much for a team. He's basically the OC

Yeah this shyt is crazy....if were talking about basketball dudes cant even go as far back as the 90's without that "well it was a different game" shyt. But when it comes to football somehow this NEVER gets brought up when it comes to QB records even tho the game is completely different than 20 years ago. This is mostly due to the fact that the golden boys of the league are the ones putting up these numbers so its all good there....lets just ignore the fact that every rule completely favors the QB and offense in today's game. As long as Peyton's doing it no one will say shyt. Maybe once scrub QB's start throwing 40-50 TD's (inevitable) we'll get some plea copping.

Oh and Marino still has by far the GOAT season statistically. Youd have to throw 70 TD's in today's game to compare to what he did in the 80's

Dan Marino threw for 5,084 passing yards in 1984.....and the record stood for 27 seasons until Drew Brees broke it in 2011.

For a 24 seasons, Dan Marino was the only person in NFL history to surpass 5,000 passing yards.....since 2008, Drew Brees has done it 4x, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Matthew Stafford has passed 5,000 yards passing as well.

In 1967, Joe Namath passed for over 4,000 yards in a 14 game season which was AMAZING. In 2012, 11 QBs passed for over 4000 yards:wow:
