Analytics have always existed in professional sports, the only thing that's changed is the level of depth.
Probably when they needed reason to validate Nash MVPs
That’s not analytics. That’s the Elias Sports Bureau putting in overtimeThey are really like that. I hate when it they go " he is the first player to have 35 points,10 boards,8 assist,1 steal,2 blocks in 5 years"
Was it when Hollinger was hired by Memphis? Of course people were using analytics way before then, but I feel like that hire gave validity to the community. Just asking out of curiosity to see when everyone else thinks it started. We are definitely in the analytics era now. I have no problem with analytics, but I do think shyt has gone a little too far. Listen to an NBA podcast and it’s lilely a bunch of nerds talking about real + -, PER, and True Shooting and shyt.
I never said he didnt deserve the MVPs. I said they needed a metric to validate it because his raw numbers alone werent MVP worthyIf adding one man and taking a previous 29 win team to 60 wins and the best record in the league isn't VALUE, tell me what is please.
I don’t knock it as much as I use to. My only beef is when your average, everyday Joe uses the shyt to further an argument and when you ask how do you calculate the stat and all I get is funny larry David stares back at me, then I can’t take the shyt seriously. Just to me, it just comes across like everyone who champions that shyt embodies that Vin Scully quote “Statistics are used much like a drunk uses a lamppost: for support, not illumination.”. I already know Lebron or KD is out of this world

warriors winning in 2015 was validation of analyticsAw man it matters.
Analytics doesn't mean you don't also use your gut but it gives you a model to consider for a second perspective.
If the rockets win this year it will be the ultimate validation.
People who claim to hate analytics don't even know what it is.That’s not analytics. That’s the Elias Sports Bureau putting in overtime
The analytics era died when they decided someone as someone like Westbrook was the most valuable player in the leagueW
warriors winning in 2015 was validation of analytics
The whole idiotic notion that jump shooting teams couldn’t win a title has been erased forwver
Analytics doesn't need Houston to win to be validation, GSW is a walking analytics dream and the cause of the dominance of 3PT shootingAw man it matters.
