When Do You Think Being "Thick" Went Mainstream?

It's def. Kim Kardashian and the black male white woman thing in the music industry. They are trying to attract black males and black males in the industry greatly prefer them and spoke publicly about it especially through rap music. Also, the rise of praising strippers who have that body type.


It has nothing to do with jlo as jlo has a normal looking athletic bodytype and that is not the style that is "in". This would've been popular as soon as jlo came out if that was the case, but clearly it isn't. In a few years though the normal looking athletic body type like jlo's for example (and a few others from the 90s) will come back in style. People are already getting tired of the body type that is popular right now.

This also has nothing to do with beyonce or dc as all of dc were skinny when bootylicious came out.


Having curves or boobs/behind is NOT the same thing as being thick, especially with the version of thick of these days. You can be skinny or normal sized and have curves.

If we're talking just having an ass then it's J. Lo. If we're talking thick-thick, I don't think it's mainstream.

Sure white people / white media praise the Kardashians but I've noticed that for the most part that they prefer women who have toned lower bodies like Jen Selter. Still the IG effect but it's more of an athletic approach.

On the other hand, plus size models like Iskra Lawrence who are "thick" and get hate comments everyday on IG from white dudes calling her fat.

I didn't say they would. I said the style that's in now (overly big plastic surgery looking, stripper kim k) will indeed go out of style and natural fit/thick slim/thick (which really just means curvy, not thick) will come back in.

I'd say J-Lo made it OK for white dudes to admit they liked big asses again, so mainstream culture followed. Rest of us never left

When the average woman is 5'4 160 lbs and the average dress size goes from 6-8 to 10-18 the beauty standards naturally lean to heavier people becuase we as a culture are getting bigger. Outside of America people are slimmer. I don't understand why people don't pick up on that correlation.
