1-4 were amazing. 5 and 6 were more up and down. Still enjoyable to me, but clearly a step down in writing and storytelling. 7 and especially 8 were just rushed messes.
5 but i thought six was a good bounce back and ended with two top 5 episodes. So ill just say 7 was when it was all falling apart…but at the time i thought it was cause 8 would be the most epic shyt ever…and then 8 happened
I enjoyed it all the way through. Only thing I didn't like was the Agenda shyt they threw in season 4-5 ish(can't remember) and when they suddently decided to make Arya a warrior goddess and Sansa General Patton.
I did think the finale was dumb, the idea that Bran was emperor-worthy was goofy. He was a space cadet by then.
George R. R. said that the show passed his books towards the end of season 5. The funny thing is that only the final 3 episodes of season 5 had ratings of 9+ on IMDb, starting with Hardhome.
There were still 3 All Time episodes in season 6: The Door, Battle of the b*stards and The Winds if Winter. The highs were the highest they could be but that consistent output could not be maintained.
When they started running out of ASOIAF material, so like mid season 5. Around the time Jamie and Bronn snuck into Dorne is when I started noticing a drop in quality.
Cersei empowering the religious nuts made no sense to me. The Sons of the Harpy plot was nonsensical. And the less said about Stannis and his fall the better.
