When doing squats, do you need to flex your legs the whole time?

To take the pressure off your knees? Are you guys clenching your entire leg muscles the whole time? My knees hurt like a mofo and I want to know if I’m fukking up

I would guess either bad posture or you're lifting weights that are too heavy.

Probably best to start off with lunges and leg press and work on ankle and hip flexibility.

Your knees should be supporting very little like in the 1 to 3%. It's very much a full-on leg exercise.
But normally, when you stand, your skeletal structure is also holding you upright. Let’s say you have the bar across your shoulders weighing 220. Even if you don’t lock out your knees, is that too much for your knees to prop up?

People can 600 lbs on their back so probably no. But if you're putting 220 on your knees and it's doing most of the work, then that means your legs are weak as fukk. So yeah you're gonna fukk your knees up.

Not exactly sure what you mean.

But, I have a bad knee.

Pain off n on, from a slight annoyance to a damn this shyt really hurting.

I wear a knee brace at work (I do some moving around) to dim the pain, if it were to flair up.

With that being said, I can Squat and Deadlift w/o any pain while wearing that brace.

Maybe look into getting a brace.
