This is a complete lie. Compton was pretty good but would have been much better had Ice Cube wrote Dre's stuff instead of Kendrick Lamar. Been There Done That and that album were a dumpster fire outside of maybe 3 songs.
No . . Compton was trash

"Been There Done That" is what I would expect from Dr. Dre if he wasn't obviously (as evident by Compton) trying to pander to the modern hip-hop consumer

Compton was wack as fukk and maybe the biggest disappointment I've ever witnessed. Like you waited an eternity for dre to drop somethin, and then he finally announced "compton". I was hyped AS fukk, I mean with that title and it being inspired by the movie I was really expectin some real west coast shyt, that real "Dre sound" and another legendary album with anthems which would be instant classics. Instead we got this piece of shyt, there was no signature sound to be heard, it sounded like a bad mix of current trends & styles, and absolutely overproduced in general. So the production aspect was definetely wack as fukk. Same goes for the guests, his last 2 albums were defined by the great rappers he got to spit on his dope beats, and instead of rappers as dope as Snoop Doggy Dogg, Kurupt or Lady of Rage on The Chronic or Hittman, Snoop, Kurupt, Six Two (yes I'm leavin out wack ass eminem on purpose) we got Justus, King Mez or what the fukk they were called who brought absolutely NOTHING to the table. Even the OG's & Vets were a major disappointment, like Snoop on "One Shot One Kill" with his Kendrick Lamar impersonation:snoop::snoop: :snoop:
And last but not least: Dre sounded so incredibly wack on the album like "Damn wtf", because he had his shytten written by dudes like King Mez or that atrocious Kendrick Lamar fakkit and used their voices & flows :snoop::scust: Absolutely didnt match with dre and he sounded so corny on the album it really fukked me up.
Only song I really bumped is "Talking To My Diary" which is an older song and doesnt sound like the rest of this mess.
Another indicator of how lackluster this album is, is also the fact that it literally had zero impact. Not like his other albums which produced instant anthems that had everyone bumpin them.
So for me that album really fukked up dres legacy....

Guess I'll just agree to disagree then, cause I had no problem with the production. Issues, For the Love Of Money, Deep Water, Loose Cannons, One Shot One Kill, and Talking To My Diary were my go to tracks. As far as guest appearances, ideally I'm sure we would've liked to see something similar to '2001', but in 2015, should we really have expected to see Kurupt, Hittman, Six-Two, and other guys like that? Maybe I liked this album cause my expectations were up in the air for it, along with the fact that Dre's production went through a fairly mediocre phase before this dropped. My biggest problems with the album were how annoying Anderson Paak was throughout, and the fact that Kendrick Lamar clearly ghostwrote Dre's stuff, but didn't write it for Dre, but wrote it for himself and Dre rapped the lyrics. Dre sounded like Kendrick on nearly every song and I hated it. The Aftermath compilation was just bad all around. Crappy pots and pans dropping to the floor sounding beats and too many aimless features. It's an album that was dusty back then, and even worse now.

Dre is on some other ish compared to what he shows the public. Remember when he was talking about doing an album where each song was made to represent a planet :mjlol:

On a serious note, his greatest regret in life will probably be that he let himself be trapped within the confines of public perception

Michel'le's first album was 27 years ago and Jewell's song was 12 years. Not exactly a great track record for R&B

true, i was just sayin' he has touched the surface with it and when focused he's done pretty good

he produced that fast lane joint for bilal too, the song that featured jadakiss

It's insane how good the Been There Done That beat sounds 20 years later

I mean compare it to other production from '96
