When is a preference considered a fetish

Straightforward question. We all have preferences in foods, cars, and women. I'm the type of man that has a type of car, woman and food i love. I love foreign women and foreign cars (yes i am black american and both parents and family are all Americans). Is that considered a fetish or a preference?

A preference is what you like outta choices given.
A fetish is something you just want for sexual gratification

Fetish in just a fancy word for preference. Fetish is just an object of desire

I prefer oranges over apples. It's the same thing as somebody preferring ass over titties. Same thing different terminology

You would need to define "fetish" and "preference". And I think simply defining the two would draw the distinction.

For example, imo, it would be a fetish to be attracted to an obese individual for the purposes of fulfilling a sexual desire. It would be a preference to prefer an obese individual primarily for companionship.


With that, preferences as it pertains to being "color struck" simply acknowledge external factors influencing one's decision. For example, if I take 100 black people from adolescence and show them material that suggests white is the most attractive and black is the least attractive, I would expect a higher % of the black people from that group to be attracted to white people than another controlled group of 100 black people that are influenced to believe black is more attractive than white.
