Think about the legal headaches and consequences that will come after the punch before you throw it.
I have been hot headed lately but with restraint. In this moment it may feel like a stress reliever to knock that guy out who is invading your personal space.
But having to see him in court will just create more stress in the future. There are all kinds of B.S. and negative publicity that can come to you from just an average everyday street fight.
This isn't the 60's anymore, everybody and their grandmomma, your employer and whoever else will be involved and have something to say about it. And your lawyer will be richer...
9 out of 10 times use Bruce Lee and every other prominent Martial Artists' advice just walk away. If not possible then continue to defend yourself appropriately learn some type of Judo or disabling art. Less strikes the better.
Medically when they examine the guy too many strikes he can make a false case against you of battery. If the courts in your district are hurting for money they will throw out your self-defense bet unless the guy is 100lbs heavier than you.
I did not get a Black Belt on purpose because the legal consequences are even worse for them. You have to register yourself somewhere with the city/state municipality I believe....
1) Do not provoke a fight unless you are a billionaire and have time to waste in court
2) Run/Walk away from most encounters if possible
3) If you know submission holds it's better to break someone's arm than knock their teeth out. The former can be explained/you can justify it better as a defensive move where as the latter there is DNA evidence and also implies that there was enough distance for you to leave the situation if they determine it's a hit from a frontal angle.
4) Purchase a body worn camera (I got mine from Amazon brand name Conbrov) if you live in fight prone areas. This will help you greatly but keep in mind don't record anything illegal that you do because the entire device's history can be subpoenaed if you submit it (not just that particular video of the fight) and used in court of law for that particular case.
