He fukking had LT in his prime, Sproles, Gates, and Vincent Jackson at his disposal and still couldn't get over the hump :banderas:.

For many years, the AFC West was one of the worst divisions in the NFL and San Diego was head and shoulders better than the rest of the division and was one of the better teams in the AFC. They were always favored by some to be in the Super Bowl and would have monumental collapses once the playoff fever got hotter. Other than the Cowboys in recent years, has there been another team that has choked away more critical games down the stretch.

From '07-'09 San Diego should've appeared in atleast one Super Bowl. You can't question Rivers passion for the game, but he's not built for December and January. All the other QB's he was compared to (Brees, Rodgers, Big Ben, Eli, Brady) could throw the football in cold tempertures. Shotty set up Rivers for success and developed him well and while Norv took that offense to another level, when it came to it....He was a shytty coach.

Well heres the thing

Lets go back to my op

Lets say he retires in the next few years.

No titles..no records...no mvp...a few pro bowls..never above 4th best in the nfl....no super bowl appearances...choked on applesauce against his peers...brady, ben, and manning owned him.

This is not an outstanding career. He is in the hall of pretty good and a jersey retire guy, but outside of SD fans, his career amounts to nothing.

and the first thing everyone will say is "damn, I feel so sorry for him. he was coached by marty and norv."

brady threw 3 picks in each of his playoff wins against SD.

rivers is 2-0 against the colts with peyton on the squad.

he's also 2-2 with and 86 rating against the steelers in the reg.season and threw for 300 yards against 3td's against top-ranked and SB champs in 08.

this thread was well thought out.:camby:

Heres a test

here are career stat lines for 4 qbs

Now

I am NOT saying one is a 'better qb' or an arbitrary measurement like that...i am talking a lot about accomplishments here. But look at this:

Qb1:
12 seasons, 3 probowls, 261 tds to 199 ints, 1 conference title game, caeeer qbr 81.5

Qb2:
15 seasons, 3 probowls, 201 tds to 147 ints, 1 superbowl appearance, career qbr 82.2, career 60.4%

Qb3:
9 seasons, 3 probowls, 197td-97int, career qbr 96.0

Qb4:
9 seasons, 4 probowls, 206-100, qbr 95.6, 1 conference title appearance

No rings, never led the league in anything but one year for each, inconsistant title game appearances. Similar season highs and lows.

Would you say they have had similar careers?

I dont know why he hasnt asked to be traded. I think its more on Norv and the last GM than Phillip. They let go all his talent over the years.

Which has zero relevance here. I know exactly who the lions are.
And I think everybody knows Rivers has had an above average but not great career....I don't think ANYBODY is calling him an all time great or a HOF QB. Nobody on here was riding for Rivers like that. You started this thread like somebody on here or even in the media has been :cape: Rivers.

Was the point of this thread to tell us something we all already knew?

This thread is filled with so many difference inaccurate statements that I won't even waste my breath trying to debunk each of em.

When it's all said and done he's probably the best pure player from his draft so I don't give much of a fuk. Other Qb's from that draft might have accomplished on the team side but neither of them have the individual numbers that Rivers does. Take that how you will.
