If you take a quick glance at this thread you can see I've been negged quite a bit for it.. Which I'm really okay with, but I just like clarification on the whole "reputation system"

So I have 2 questions

1) Is this the spirit of the rep system, to neg someone 200 points over a thread like this, seeking clarification.. Also I've been negged over innocuous things like MVP picks or whether Steve Kerr is a good coach .. Is this indeed to spirit of the reputation rules here on the coli?

If indeed this is the spirit, its fine and I don't mind cancelling my account.. But, not to sound like a tough guy, but in real life I don't believe any of us would allow person to call us a fakkit to our face and that be the end of it.. And as you can see in this thread that's whats going on, hence why I was trying to get an understanding of what giving someone a neg represents to them.

2) If this is not the spirit of why the reputation system was set up why do you guys allow this to happen? And would you consider just making the reputation system a positive rep. Or something where they cannot go below zero.. If its a crazy trolling situation I don't see what wrong with mods banning that person or the person blocking whoever is trolling them

Again, I'm not trying to disrupt things here, just looking for clarification on whether or not all of the negs are fair game, cause its just nothing but a bunch of people piling on at this point.

Nobody was "crying" dummy.. Im tryna understand what that site is about, and if this is the spirit of the "rep system" to neg people over a question or because someboy doesnt like you're favorite basketball player

I asked a very specific question that went unanswered..I can take your advice and change my preference setting but the question remains:. Yes or no is this the spirit of the reputation system to "neg" someone to death over my thread or over them not liking your favorite NBA player?
I've been getting called a fakkit or cac or something everyday this week over some nonsense. And I'm telling you. Trolling Season on my end is about to begin ... I got a mean bot game

"Fake points " or not as "therealbrand" says, 'm not going to keep getting bullied by a " rep system" all because I made a thread asking a question ..If this internet bullying is going to be permitted on here I'd like you to ban my account today.. Thank you very much. And no worries

i dont know what the spirit of the system is. theres pos rep and negs. people give them out for however they see fit. we hardly ever moderate rep.

Yeah.. I think that it's one thing to call someone a fakkit or whatever.

But now y'all have attached a gratification element to it being able to "neg" someone. "fake points or not, thats what it is

Its one thing if someone called me a fakkit on the subway or somewhere in public, but if you call me a fakkit and push me we have a problem. (thats what this neg shyt is doing.. Its giving them a digital way of putting their hands on somebody. because this comments stick with you forever

And if the system don't matter like everyone keeps saying on here, then is should either be

1)Optional to participate it
2) Only a positive rep
or 3) not able to neg someone to infinity or maybe a max of a -200 or something along those lines

It is optional thats why @cook said it can be turned off, problem solved. If you want to participate, then you gotta be prepared for what comes with it. It was way different back in the day and more people would be more in the red than you think. If you can't handle the "bullying" then turn off rep and you dont gotta worry about shyt like this. And if it still bothers you, log off cause this aint the place for you.

Yes the spirit of the system is being upheld because you made a thread asking what a neg was about. You ask a "stupid" question, you are going to get a response like that. There is a FAQ in this very subforum that address everything you need to know about this place. If you didn't read it or figured it out, then Plus, their imaginary points, no need to get your panties in a ruffle over them/
