Even the most casual glance at the last 6 years would tell you that the DoJ doesn't have the autonomy you'd like it to have.
Even more, the US has a long tradition of leaving traitorous business purposefully unfinished, all the way back to the US Civil War. Even if Garland were to have the belly to go after people, he'd inevitably be handed a list of those to allow through the net. The only office with the juice to override that is the president's...and Biden isn't about to go all in, no matter how much it's needed. Business trumps everything.
I know of nobody on this site on the left that expect Trump to be accountable for anything. We all know how this works, it doesn't mean that he shouldn't be.
