Pretty Much.. I think alot of kids playing in the NBA would be alot better had they stayed in College Longer.. Of course there exceptions to the rule.
When I see someone like James Harden succeed who isnt the most athletically gifted player but Fundamentally Sound as can be on offensive side, shows you how far the college game can take you.. No question Harden wouldnt be nearly as good if it wasnt for college and actually staying for more than 1 or 2 years
Its crazy...I said the same thing last night about Harden. He is fundamentally more sound and has a high bball iq than kobe...its sad but true. Kobe is still great because he was a better athlete with an insane drive to be great. When you watch Harden, it is so easy for him to get his and get his team involved in the offense, something Kobe never was able to master. Kobe needed two year with Coach K...first year to breakdown...second year to build up and he would have been even better than he is now which is scary.
Yall dudes don't even know what you're saying at this point.
You also said 'more fundamentally sound'. You couldn't be more factually wrong.BBall IQ is about decision making and knowing how to work well with others. Its not about how to shoot at a crazy angle over 3 defenders. Kobe lacked that many times throughout his career, he is lucky he played with HoFs most of his career. If MJ or Bron played with prime Shaq...then the twin towers with healthy Bynum and prime Gasol next, they would have had at least 8 titles. Especially with Phil Jackson as coach.
MJ would have 8 titles if he just didnt quit basketball...if he had that system in place after the latter 3 titles though, he'd be the superb GOATBBall IQ is about decision making and knowing how to work well with others. It's crazy to me that people are always hyping up bball IQ for Kobe. His natural inclination is one on one play which is actually going against the high IQ play. He is the basketball equivalent of the guy who swings for the fences every at bat.BBall IQ is about decision making and knowing how to work well with others. Lets act like Kobe and the Lakers didnt suck the last 3+ years before the Achilles injury![]()
at @Bilz ... you know very damn well that Harden isn't more fundamentally more sound of a player than Kobe.
Skills = fundamentals. The very reason why Harden has failed as a #1 option up to this point is because his game isn't fundamentally sound. This is crazy talk even from a Kobe hater. Kobe certainly isn't the greatest decision maker, that is true, but you're propping up a dude that hasn't been in the league all that long and is an ABYSMAL playoff performer -I think Kobe is more skilled than Harden ever will be but that doesn't really have anything to do with fundamentals. To me, fundamentals is more about game planning and approach and I've always thought Kobe leaves a lot to be desired in those areas.
Yet don't you label yourself as the one to bring reason and sense to all that? How the hell do you expect folk to take you seriously when you back the campaign of 'Harden is more fundamentally sound and has a higher BBIQ than Kobe does'?He takes a lot of unnecessary risks on both sides. If you listen to the Stans, he's the best shooter, best defender, best one on one player, best clutch player, most intelligent player, and so on...yet he doesn't stand out from the group by any metric. What explanation can there be for that other than that other players are doing more with less?
