Exactly how many teachers said this? Even without going to college the average person will have had well over 60 teachers in their childhood. So how would one teacher saying this affect them so much

Me either. If a teacher ever told you this tell the whole story. Why did they tell you thatNever been told this. You must have been some bad ass kids. Worst I ever got was my electronics prof telling me to stop sleeping in class and put in work because I breezing through the tests

So it's nikkas like you making up this lie.Damn, this post bring me back.
I asked my GED teacher if she could recommend me for the GED test. She said absolutely not my math isn't on par yet and I wouldn't pass (basically saying I ain't shyt.)
I was so pissed, I ended up quitting class for 5 months.
Came back and 3 months later and passed the test. 2 years later got my associates and have a decent gig with the city.

"I thought you only did drugs"
"...I do"
I don't believe you at all. Not one, but multiple teachers told you that you weren't going to be shyt, just because you're black? And nothing came from this?I've had a couple of teachers say this to me just cause I was the only black person in an all white classroom, and frankly I hope they are dead now.
I've made a damn good life for myself...they can suck my dikk.

I had a teacher tell me this in 5th grade. Changed my life because in that moment I started to give a damn.
I was never a bad kid; I knew where the line was and to never cross it.
Had all those nerds confused cause my demeanor never changed, only the GPA.
them, after seeing my straight A's:![]()

Years later I have learned what the difference is between having a parent or two behind you versus not having them.
I think I turned out ok, but always wonder what things would have been liked if I had people in my corner supporting me
