He's got a knack for the larger than life sounding songs. Like movie villian boss type of music.

i think you hit on one of his biggest draws. ross is a master at what i call "vicarious" rap. unlike a lot of other artist, he has this keen ability to pull listeners into a lifestyle that is intoxicating with its allure. nikkas listen to ross and go :ohhh: it almost makes people listening to his raps want to hustle harder to live the life he's describing.

I would say Ross is top 15 DoA right now. It's not just about straight lyrics, or his technical ability which surely lacks but the number of memorable songs Ross has created in such a short time is truly remarkable.

BMF gets all the hype as far as Styles/Ross collabs, but Keys to the Crib>>>>

playing that shyt in the whip while the breeze hits your face :noah:

I got them keys in the crib, you wouldn't find it if you had the keys to the crib!!!!

I feel I'm losing my religion, praying on these nikkas, wrap a kilo with a ribbon....

Living every day like its my last....

The way he delivers those lines :noah:

if it wasn't for the CO shyt, ross would be considered in the top 10 of hip-hop. dude's obviously talented. ear for beats is nearly unmatched. lyrics are great for someone who's essentially a d-boy rapper. dude is the complete package, but that CO episode fukked his aura up, and a lot of people didn't forgive him for it. i don't care, and i think he's definitely one of the best rappers of the past decade, without question. but many people just haven't been able to get over the fact he was a CO for a year when he was younger. to them, that's a mark against his street cred that they can't overlook. :yeshrug:

Perception is everything.

If Instagram, Facebook and Twitter was around in the 90s...people would've saw Tupac going to art school, sounding like a soft kid on that one high school interview and humping blow up dolls with Shock G :cacbaby: People would have saw Biggie working as a bag boy at the grocery store, being really smart and coddled by his mother and that he barely did anything street-wise. And that he was from Clinton Hill, not Bed Stuy. Or that Nas basically stayed in his house before rapping and that it was his little brother who was out there :cacbaby: All these rappers lying. Put them under a magnifying glass, somethin fradulent gonna come out on 80% of them.

Ross can rap in his lane... but he is literally the biggest fraud in hip hop. A super hard cocaine rapper who really is a corrections officier... if he was a 'technical' rapper or something would be fine, but since he is a dude whos whole focus is on projecting how really he is, the fact he is completely fake does kinda ruin it...

But he picks great beats, and he got a good voice, a good 'plain' flow, and he can project that aura where you get drawn into his movie music like the poster said above...

I aint going to ever compare ross to nino bless, crooked i, nas, but as far as those he is competing with... he got it mang.
