Why is there hate between die hard and casual fans?

Casual fans will never understand what makes Floyd an all time great boxer

Mosley was a great athlete in his prime, still a very good athlete when he fought Floyd.

Floyd was not only a great athlete but also had great boxing skills, something Mosley never had. Mosley was in wars with boxers that Floyd either beat easily or wouldve beaten easily

He gets judged unfairly because he takes the action out of the fight. But he never lost and he didnt take much punishment. Thats my goat :to:

Floyd v Oscar was a matchup of two of the best chins in boxing history which is funny as it's the last thing a lot of people associate with them given both of their pretty boy personas

Yep.

And with the quality opponents they faced, its amazing that they managed to go their entire career without ever tasting the canvas from a headshot:whew:

Man you stupid af mosley was 39 already

Floyd is 6 years younger

Thanks for reminding us how p*ssy and selective mayweather is

“Sometimes they say, 'Well, Floyd Mayweather's opponents was handpicked.' That's a good thing," Mayweather said during a conference call with reporters to hype Saturday's world title fight against Mexico's Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. "I commend my team ... when I sit back and I think about my career, I say 'you know what? I had a cool career. I didn't take any punishment'.

"If they say these guys were handpicked, they were handpicked to make $40 and $50 and $60 million, then you know what? Keep handpicking them. If they're going to keep paying, keep handpicking them."

'real' boxing fans seem like the snobbiest sports fans

im not saying they are wrong, but they talk down on casuals more than other groups of sports fans

As we should.

Casuals don't even take the time to learn even minor nuances of the sport, and then wanna talk like we're on equal ground when it comes to knowledge of what we're discussing.

The same way an NBA fan would talk down on a "casual" NBA fan who only watches the Warriors.....twice a year....and then speaks like they have just as much knowledge about what else is going on in the NBA as someone who tunes in to nearly every game.

I can’t believe someone actually said this to you.
I just...bruh. You for real?

Yeah

And it's such a simple concept, weight class ain't that complex. I tried to explain that Tyson was a heavyweight and James a featherweight, he said "yeah I know, but I'm saying this should happen".

Boxing casuals can say some dumb shyt.

That whole situation made me appreciate Mayweather even more. Showed that he had a legit chin and that when touched and hurt he still had the ring smarts to cover and hold to weather the storm. Then the way he bounced back and stepped up the aggressiveness showed he could take it another level when needed. The one thing I wish we got to see more of is fighters really challenging Mayweather and bringing more of that side out of him.

Not many could bring that out of Floyd he was just that good.

One of my favorite Mayweather fights was against DeMarcus Corley. Floyd took some shots in this fight as well but he was fighting aggressive and eventually wore down Corley in the later rounds. Physically it was Mayweather's prime.

Now this would be an interesting discussion.

:ehh:

@patscorpio @Newzz how do y’all feel about this one?

floyd's chin is certainly serviceable an dup there..and yeah youre right about chin criteria...the cats known for their chins usually a couple of wars under their belt ( which floyd doesnt have many of) that show it on full display on top of other things like never going down or rarely going down, never stopped, and facing known punchers

Zab juda caught Floyd pretty nice too
Nah Floyd was just off balance, not hurt whatsoever from that shot...shoulda been a knockdown tho

But it doesn't matter really, Floyd just gave away first 4 rounds to learn the tendencies, had Zab feeling himself like :myman:

Then he gave him that WORK :damn:

Zab had to resort to throwing nut shots to find a way out, only type of punch he could land at that point:mjlol:

Never seen Zab embarrassed like that before or since, one thing is when he lost by a flash KO to Kostya Tszyu, but Floyd made him look like an amateur

I feel like real boxing fans study the sport. Techique, combination, cross, counterpunch, body shots to the liver and kidney, parrying etc. Jab, soutpaw position, is he flatfooted? They could breakdown everything. So when you’re watching a fight, say Lomachenko vs Rigondeaux, and you watch the outcome. End of fight, “Lomanchenko would destroy Roy prime!!!” That’s not asinine? Trust me, lookup the shyt casuals say and you will sort of understand why they are snobbish.

On another side, being snobby is kinda corny. Me I’d rather listen to Elzhi and Pharoahe Monch, but you love Young Thug. I’m at a point where I’ll just rather you listen to shyt and not say anything :yeshrug: I’m trying to kill the “back in the day” complex.
