I always thought Conner vs Floyd was just a money grab/media blitz fukkery just to see the whole “boxing meets MMA” thing.
That's exactly what it was....some people til this day still don't understand that. As confident as Conor seemed leading up to the fight I promise you he KNEW he was going to lose that fight, of course he'll never admit that. It was all about the Benjamin's for all parties involved

For folks talking about Mosley ducked Floyd or Floyd avoided Shane in his prime, the reality is the timelines never really added up for them to get together when both were close to their best

Mayweather won the title in late 98 at 130 when Mosley was still at 135. However, Mosley moved straight up to welterweight in 99 in order to pursue a fight with De La Hoya. Can't really blame him there as De La Hoya was the big money fight, not Floyd, but that small window between 98-99 was the only time they could have fought until around 06-07 (and by that point Mosley was past his prime anyway).

nikkas act like Shane was t ducking Floyd in his prime.

Floyd called that nikka out years ago and he ducked him.

Then when Floyd started poppin Shane came chasing after a fight while he was getting washed up and Floyd graciously abided him.

And nikkas forget, Shane had just washed up Margacheato recently as well. Viciously destroyed him and nobody was saying that "prime" shyt then or when Pac fought Shane AFTER Floyd.

That hit would've put the normal nikka on his ass. Floyd was clearly hurt but he tied up like a smart boxer would. Once Floyd got his composure back he put on a MASTERFUL boxing display and destroyed Shane

I went to that fight. First boxing match I've ever been to.

The crowd thought he was done too.

By the 10th round I saw people leaving because Floyd had pitched a shutout from then on.
I actually went to the movie theater on base to watch it with my homies.

We all had liquor, sat in the middle of the theater with a ton of other people (wasn't to crowded) and ALL stood up once Floyd got hit with that.

shyt was crazy

For cats saying a younger Shane would have beaten Mayweather don't they know Pretty Boy Floyd was more lethal than Money Mayweather and was throwing combos and shyt with impeccable speed timing and accuracy. At no time would Shane had beaten Floyd (other than catching him cold) if they had matched up earlier in their careers.

'real' boxing fans seem like the snobbiest sports fans

im not saying they are wrong, but they talk down on casuals more than other groups of sports fans
Casuals need to stay in they lane. Boxing is a more historied and serious sport, no room for nikkas that don't know what they talking about

To be honest, I don’t think Shane was ducking Floyd. It just made no sense at that point financially to fight him because Floyd was not yet the draw to bring in interest.

I agree, I broke down the timeline in which these two could've fought in an earlier post but people ignored it
