'real' boxing fans seem like the snobbiest sports fans

im not saying they are wrong, but they talk down on casuals more than other groups of sports fans
Exactly its still 2 dudes fighting. strategy, technique and hard work doesn't change that :mjlol:

Man you stupid af mosley was 39 already

Floyd is 6 years younger

Thanks for reminding us how p*ssy and selective mayweather is

“Sometimes they say, 'Well, Floyd Mayweather's opponents was handpicked.' That's a good thing," Mayweather said during a conference call with reporters to hype Saturday's world title fight against Mexico's Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. "I commend my team ... when I sit back and I think about my career, I say 'you know what? I had a cool career. I didn't take any punishment'.

"If they say these guys were handpicked, they were handpicked to make $40 and $50 and $60 million, then you know what? Keep handpicking them. If they're going to keep paying, keep handpicking them."
50-0 and you still hating.

After that 2nd round, Floyd gained the MOST respect from a lot of people. Most thought if Shane caught him it would be game over, but he weathered it and dominated the rest of the fight, it was borderline embarrassing how Mosley got beat up technically for the rest of the fight.

Classic boxing moment.....#Facts

Floyd Ortiz was classic as well, for the headbutt, dirty knockout, Floyd vs Merchant:deadmanny:

Still has me dying to this day; misses how Merchant hate used to bring a certain feel to Floyd fights...He was needed for the Manny floyd match

Depending how you look at it. But a fight is a fight. Theres nothing wrong with casually enjoying that

Not at all, I agree with that. I think what pisses off boxing fans is when casual fans make outrageous statements about either the fight or the fighter. Ive been at too many fight parties where I here some outlandish shyt.

I actually went to the movie theater on base to watch it with my homies.

We all had liquor, sat in the middle of the theater with a ton of other people (wasn't to crowded) and ALL stood up once Floyd got hit with that.

shyt was crazy
I was in Vegas for that fight. Went to the weigh in. Wanted to get tickets but nosebleeds were going for $700 so was going to skip it. Then got hot at blackjack the morning of and hit for $1100 so then was ready to go. Hit the casino during the day and got pissy drunk, got into an argument with some of the dudes I was with in Vegas then got into a brutal argument with my girl. Passed out drunk before the fight started and woke up around 5 after the fight and all the parties was over. Waste of a night.

For folks talking about Mosley ducked Floyd or Floyd avoided Shane in his prime, the reality is the timelines never really added up for them to get together when both were close to their best

Mayweather won the title in late 98 at 130 when Mosley was still at 135. However, Mosley moved straight up to welterweight in 99 in order to pursue a fight with De La Hoya. Can't really blame him there as De La Hoya was the big money fight, not Floyd, but that small window between 98-99 was the only time they could have fought until around 06-07 (and by that point Mosley was past his prime anyway).

Prob the most sensible “who ducked who” post in here.

I don’t know, fight parties I’ll actually ignore the outlandish shyt. It amps you up when they end up feeling like hot mess. The Pac/Money fight party was one of the goat events I’ve been too. As much as these guys were so called out of their prime, you should have seen how many picked Pacquiao. Once the bell started and Floyd went to work, :merchant::picard::blessed:. “Clearly Pac hurt his shoulder.” “What a trash fight!”

Always wanted to go see that fight live, and saved a good amount but those prices were insane. With the way the outcome turned out, I’m glad I never went. I think I’m going to see Spence vs Thurman live when it happens.

@Remote Exactly and that’s actually light. Roman Gonzales having better defense than Floyd was worse, and if he moved up in weight, could he reach Floyd. This is when he was somehow #1 pound for pound. Casual shyt.
