This happened to me once. This was probably my "wait a second, I might actually be ok with the ladies" moment.
Basically the same question, while we were hugged up in the jacuzzi. I told her she could lose some weight, and she immediately backed away and said pretty much the same thing. I got that sinking feeling in my chest that lets you know, but instead of trying to apologize, I just responded annoyingly, "Then don't ask me that question". I was actually going to get ready to head back to my room, but she came back and she apologized. And then she wouldn't let me go anywhere without her for the rest of the night :/. At that point in my life, it was the most didn't make sense thing that happened with me and a girl.
Edit: So my lesson learned is to just be honest when they ask one of those questions. Kind of a thing I picked up from Patrice Oneal/Beige Philip
I've learned about life and ESPECIALLY with women (romantic, platonic, professional, family), it's not about what you say it's about how you say it. I'm still a work in progress on that front
Most men wanna hear shyt directly (no sugarcoat) but with women you gotta dress it up and be on point with the delivery. Otherwise they'll take it literally
