It was a unique time when this album came out.
- People didn't want to believe 2pac died.
- The "I Ain't Mad At Cha" video around the time of his death.
- "Suge Shot Me"
- Creepy "Hail Mary" video.
- 2Pac dissing everyone.
- I remember on the news seeing people wait online in front of record stores for this release.

Looking back...it was quite the experience.

It was like a surprise drop for me. I don't remember seeing ads for it in The Source, Vibe or Rap Pages but I visited the record store weekly for new albums. Obviously an instant cop. Was blown away when I first heard Hail Mary.
I think his intent was to go underground without any promo.

yea it was something for the streets. it wasn't intended to be his next big budget album.

he was gonna go on tour with snoop that fall and film more videos for All Eyez on Me and promote that more
