This was real, no way this was a work.

First off, Taker had the deadman gimmick at the time and it makes NO SENSE for him to confront Lesnar at the event with a work considering hes clearly out of character and we all know Taker is very protective of Kayfabe.

If Vince wanted to bait Lesnar into a match best believe he would send Triple H to do it, for one, Lesnar and HHH had yet to have a match and HHH could say something slick to Lesnar and mean mug him, Lesnar reacts, have entourage break it up before anything could happen = :krs: moment. Triple H was viewed as one of the biggest badasses in the WWE, Lesnar had already destroyed Taker in HIAC and had blood literary pouring out of his head. He had yet to 'conquer' the King of Kings.

Its clear they had real beef and Taker's ego/emotions got the best of him hence that confrontation, in the first interview Lesnar did when asked about the confrontation he addressed him as "Mark" rather than Taker.

Part work part shoot, WWE/Undertaker and Brock had been discussing doing something pretty much starting right around time Brock mauled Frank Mir (as a favor for the wwe letting ufc use Brock footage to promote the first Mir vs Lesnar fight) but Dana specifically wanted no public association with "rasslin" so they danced around it. WWE really wanted Brock as UFC champ at a wrestlemania when ufc was white hot.

They obviously weren't expecting Brock to get beat especially in the manner he did that night so the timing of the worked shoot was bad, like REALLY bad because the last thing Brock wanted to do at that moment was deal with anything "scripted" he was furious and just wanted to get out of there after being bloodied and manhandled by Cain, that's why it came off so strange because Brock no sold it and gave the "I would hurt you if I had the chance right now" death stare at Taker

Did we ever get to the bottom of this? Just a case of two smart guys knowing they could make a bit of money if he'd returned to WWE earlier? I don't buy that there was ever any beef between these two so it had to be a work.
Taker and Brock were somewhere together. Taker was mistook Sable for his wife and then ended up telling her something like "ugh you're not my wife you're old" I'm paraphrasing but I think that's about it.

That would make a whole lot of sense. Imagine if we had LESNAR vs TAKER as ufc champ against the streak at wrestlemania :wow: would have been one of the biggest mania matches of all time :banderas:

i agree with this, the timing/outcome of the fight made it super weird and would account for taker's awkwardness/brocks no sell :manny:

There's an interview somewhere where Brock says something along these lines. I thought he said Taker was talking shyt about her to the boys in the locker room or something like that and someone told Brock and he passed along a msg saying he would kick Taker's ass.

Could be a work for all I know but im pretty sure that's what Brock said
