Covid or not, you shouldn't be shake someone's hand then touch your face W/O sanitizing your hands.

Even before covid, I kept that hand sanitizer w/ me, and I would always sanitize after touching someone's hand or some random thing(door handle; stair rail, etc)

if someone offers to shake your hand at a social event you have no choice or you look disrespectful.. also it a knee jerk reaction since I've been doing it my whole life..... I don't offer it though

I’ve turned down a lot of handshakes. One dude even wanted to fight. I would’ve thrown a punch, but that would’ve defeated the purpose so I kept I moving.
