yeah keep listening to those western media lies. eritrea is 50% muslim, 50% christian yet the people live in harmony. the country is hella self-reliant which is a problem for the US/IMF/WB hence the blatant "the north korea of africa" lies.
And the whole media oppression and refugee issue going on is made up to?
All the Eritrean refugees are just BSing?
I'm with everyone else, I'm sure the reports are blown out of proportion, for different political ends, but it's not harmonious there either.

How do Africans feel knowing that one of their ''own'' destabilized the continent by killing Gaddafi, decreased trade, and militarized the whole continent?

I don't think many thought of Obama as "one of our own", he hardly knew his father nor lived in Africa. If I'm not mistaken he hardly has contact (if any) with his family there too. He's just as another American president, which is his job. I don't remember any of my African friends cheering when he was elected.

That's not what it means, that's what you want it to mean.
AA is just a term for people of African-descent living in the US.
No it's not. An African immigrant living in America is not an African-American. We are a special people with our own history, culture, etc.

I know the descendants of enslaved African people(s) are a seperate future all group, quite literally a nation. I've argued that idea before.
But as it stands, he did not grow up Kenyan, he grew up Black in America, as did his daughters. He is AA by definition.

If you're the son of an African immigrant with links to your African nation then you're not African American. Again African Americans trace their links dating back centuries and are the direct descendants of slaves. Obama doesn't have any of that and therefore not one.

Some did, some didn't. I don't agree that Obama is African nor do I think he is AA. He is American, though.

people are leaving for economic purposes, period. the economy sucks b/c (1) bogus UN sanctions (2) the country does not have an established border with ethiopia. the algiers agreement was supposed to fix this, ethopia reneged on the agreement and are currently occupying eritrea lands. so a country 20x bigger than you is in your land what are you going to do about this aggression? of course all the resources go towards the military to prevent any further war. ethiopia unlike eritrea are lap dogs for the US so nobody in the UN calls them out for reneging on the agreement. thomas you are a smart poster look up the algiers agreement, one country defies it yet nobody says anything....hmm. why is that?

if mexico were occupying el paso, could you imagine the US military response? until this border conflict is resolved, the country will not prosper fully unfortunately. short term gains are available to the country by accepting aid/"western" influence but the president refuses. he's stayed true to who he is for 40 years.

also thomas a lot of the refugees claiming to be eritrean are in fact ethiopian. they lie b/c it's easier to get refugee status these days as an eritrean.
