Deron beasted in college under Bruce Weber.
Dude just got injured a lot and lazy.
Deron was great in Brooklyn when his ankles held up from the shots. Without then he wasn't average. But when healthy he was still elite...or Deron had one of the very best coaches ever to play put him in the right position to succeed complete with 3 all stars and a future all star six man in his front court. 20-8 and the ability to close games. He was still elite when healthy up to 2014. His body just broke down, and he never had been a gym rat to stay in the best shape. How do you define "great"?
I went to Illinois and followed his whole career.
I didn't make any excuses at all - he did get injured a lot and I did say he got lazy - hence the fall off.
He could've been one of the greats but yes dude fell off - Prime DWill was a beast, though and I hope he gets a ring this year.
sad..
