Every since Chance became a person that matters to popular culture this has been his image

If you’re going to create and carry that persona you better let your music and the media promoting you do the talking

The thing that's most striking to me is that Chance has a top tier publicist and PR team who meticulously craft what we see and prune his image. They no doubt advised him not to jump into this, or at least to offer a disclaimer ("while Trump is a vile man..."). Instead Chance still jumped out the window to defend Kanye. Obviously they're friends but given Chance's political views and activism, this doesn't make sense unless it was all a ruse. You can defend Kanye for being opinionated without doing what Chance did, which was basically cosigning Kanye's argument and ignoring the elephant in the room - Trump.

I'm not even sure where Chance goes with his career. This is an interesting turning point.
