When you see most top 10 rappers list

Most people make a list to fit a standard. nikkaz be like 20 havin 2pac and Biggie in they top 5 when they've prolly never heard a album from either of them

Aghreed. Most people will have certain artist on their list but couldn't tell you their music

I had someone tell me Jay was top 5 (Which I agree with) but then I asked them to name 5 Jay songs that weren't singles and they couldn't. Then I said name 3 Jay albums and they couldn't do that either

Mainstream fitting/conforming, other rappers the same with occasional genuine opinions thrown in, fans diverse, can vary, seen shyt that is obviously real, then some that look conformist or to fit in, in most people's list there's at least an element of that. Personally I don't have any of that at all in mine, cause I don't care what anybody thinks about MY list, so it's without any bullshyt.

Cool, all good, was just surprised, as have had so many convos about top lists in real life. Maybe I guess it's cause I know so many rappers and HipHoppas though so that's quite a prevalent topic. I always find it interesting what people think and why. 1 of the best Hip Hop book's I've got is the Kool Moe Dee 1 where it's pretty much the topic of the whole book, the greatest 50 MC's.

It's not stupid at all, it's part of Hip Hop and being competitive, people have been doing that for the longest in Hip Hop. The discussions can be very interesting. I've done top 100 lists before, even when I was like 14 lol.

That's true but I just think albums are easier to rank cause it's a single body of work. Artists make too much music within themselves.

For example, we all have our personal favourite artists, for personal reasons, but you can't deny classic albums

I feel like when people say make your list that there needs to be criteria in place from the gate. Ima let you know if I want you to be objective or subjective. While KRS is not one of my favorite rappers personally Ill out him on a list objectively cuz I know how important he's been to the culture. If Im being subjective than Redman will make my list even tho I know he not a consensus top 10
