Same...but I don't consider myself a square. Like you, I had a sheltered upbringing....grew up in the suburbs, went to private school from first grade to 12th...never even caught a glimpse of the street life until I was older. I mean much much older.
Real talk though, this is sad what's happened to this kid and I find nothing funny about it. I wish there were more square black men and women like us that could offer another way of life to kids like this.
This is kind of what I was getting at in the sports and genetics thread...black folks don't know how much it makes a difference to see people like them doing things outside of sports, entertainment, and gangbangin. Representation matters. When those are the only things a young black kids sees, it doesn't provide many options. Eventually we'll just need more black people to bit the bullet and make all that "square" stuff...cool.
Sad that people equate "ignorance" and street/hood shyt with being black in this country.
