Unlike 50, Jay, Nas, Jeezy, and some of those other names people have mentioned actually have music in the previous decade that sounds good. 50 is Eminem status when it comes to that.
U think 50 has zero good songs since 2010?

Can’t say I’ve heard the few projects he dropped but I’m The Man wasn’t bad.

Who he beef with to generate hype? He responded to Joe and jada dissing him on a track with ja, only person he randomly ever dissed was AZ wasnt?
Everyone he named in Piggy back was a PR stunt to generate hype

A lot of people were buying Massacre to hear Piggy bank. He released the video like the day the album dropped

Zero good full projects and maybe 3 good songs. Off & On and I Just Wanna are 2 of them.

50 was too gimmcky to transition with his music

i think the difference between him n long lastin legends like nas jay z n eminem (who r the exceptions not the rule) is that their true passion has always been music while 50 was in it more for the money

that coupled with burnin every bridge in the music biz had my nikka turnin to other hustles

i believe the only person in the industry he didnt try was eminem n thats because hell forever be thankful for the opportunity eminem gave him

but asides hes even shytted on his team multiple times

N if he aint learnt he gone repeat the same mistake in the movie industry

this comin from a nikka who grew up with his music n still roots for him nowadays

No, no he didnt. It came out abit after. Hence the game disses in it. So he shouldn't have responded to joe, jada etc dissing him?

Rappers like Nas, Jay, Eminem who achieved the same status have managed to stay relevant even longer. You don't sell like 12 million albums and then just have your career flatline. He wasn't some one hit wonder. He was also putting out solid music.
You’re confusing high sales of one album with the ability to consistently make good music.

I think you may be underselling how passionate 50 actually is, or at least was, about hip hop. He really loves that shyt, according to his book, he just accepted that he would never be “hot” again like he was, and transitioned into film/TV instead since he had a passion in that too.

Not underselling, just putting it in perspective.

Bobby Fischer was passionate about chess, mainly because he was good at it and it got him praise. But at some point he didn't even want to discuss the game.

50 was passionate about rap because he's good at it. Even as someone who was never really the craftsman a lot of his contemporaries were, he could write a dope song or hook in his sleep. But as you said...when he realized he'd never be 'hot' again he got disinterested in making music and found a new way to get what he was really after.

Until Animal Ambition I feel like he was making solid music. That one felt kinda underwhelming in comparison.

Nothing went wrong. You’re not supposed to stay on top forever. If anything, the fact that he transitioned his success into television shows how incredible he was at maintaining relevancy to the public. Same with LL.

Rap music is essentially for young people, let’s be real. You’re not gonna be the hot rapper when you’re in your damn 40s.

This is no longer true and really a cop out excuse.

Kanye West is 44 years old breaking streaming records left and right on his TENTH album.

Drake about to be 35 breaking all the records Kanye just set

Nas is 48 still debuting in the top 5 on Billboard. Winning Grammys. Sold out solo tours. The whole nine

Jay-Z is FIFTY ONE. If he dropped an album tomorrow its debuting at number 1

gunit didnt pop like they should have
then dre let him and game beef which slowed shyt down
the beef made people target his pieces and try to destroy them (olivia, mase etc)

he was doing too much trying to keep everyone else afloat when he could have just gathered beats and put out projects
then you got the fighting, shooting traveling, performing etc. When it comes time to say "Alright, time to focus on the group" but then the group falters
its like :yeshrug:

there really hasnt been a leader and a group that has enough energy to make it for a long time. From Jay to Nas to New Edition to Eminem, Flipmode, Terror Squad, Beatles, Jimi Hendrix etc Usually the main dude just says fukk it after awhile
with Gunit alone just look at how the Game shyt went. They could have formed a dynasty and swept both coasts. fukking with all that shyt backfired. Imagine being number 1 in the world and having to carry your own group and help Aftermath artists while appearing on Shady Records shyt too. Its really crazy that 50 even made it out of all that shyt. That's not even including shooting a movie, doing Gunit Radios, putting out clothing, beefing randomly, trolling people and mentoring careers.
