plus, DJ Premier has such a sick, distinct groove to his beats that rappers actually rhyme better over his beats then they normally do. Check the latest Papoose single for proof. Like dudes step it up and spit way more pocketed and confidant because of his groove.

Like do we put them in the same category? With guys like no id, yeezy, premo (i guess, kinda overrated imo), etc.

In terms of influence and domination they are definitely in the same category, personally i dont think anyone seperated themselves from the pack like lex an mike

there might be other new producers im missing idk, but yea id consider them in the same category, i prefer lex/mike's shyt anyway :stylin::stylin::stylin:
try again

You're not understanding. Point me to Mike Will's 'Straight Outta Compton' or 'Daily Operation'.

Those 2 bringing there sound to a pop artist isn't the same as Mike Will's sound being indistinguishable from whatever type of music it is that Rhi Rhi does. And i like that song.

the lines are so blurred now that nothing matters.

"Pour It Up" still sounds like a Mike Will production and it stands out among records like "Diamonds" and the dance records on the album. Of course, it does fall in line with her more Urban, Hip Hop influenced songs like "Cake" and "Cockiness".

my biggest thing is, legends like Dre, RZA & Premo can make me listen to the wackest MC's, it makes it bearable but i don't care how hard Mike Will's beat is, it's never going to make me listen to Rihanna or Waka Flocka, it's just not my shyt.

as far as the beats themselves go, they don't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as legends such as RZA or Quik or Mike Dean or Premo. where is the game changing album fully produced by Mike Will or Lex? even when everyone was doing dusty boom bap beats, you could still distinguish Premo from the rest because he was so good at what he does, i can't tell the difference between what Lex does and what some kid on soundclick can do. i wouldn't know a Mike Will beat even if it was my fav on the album (My Hatin' Joint is a perfect example). even if his tag is at the start of the song, his style is forgettable to me & could be any one of the 100 other trap beat makin muthafukkas i don't know the name of.

As far as the two, as much as I fukk with Lex, Mike Will overtook him. I will give Lex credit Flocka's debut, that whole thing bangs hand he did like 80% of it

nikkas are not even in the same planetary system as Preemo, Dre, Pete Rock, hell, even 01-09 Kanye, 9th wonder, mid 90s trackmasters, so forth and so on. They are making good disposable music right now but they aren't in no way shape or form in league with the legends. Lets not even talk about Dilla Madlib Quik RZA negro please

im the other way around, ill listen to anything wit a bangin young chop/mike will/lex beat

cant listen to mediocre rappers over no id/premo beats tho, just cant do it, cuz with that type of rap the vocalist takes center stage, with modern production hes drowned out by the massive production

nyc.
nowhere near them. mike will is really overrated. I don't see the hype behind this guy other than the fact he's produced some big singles. Lex is way better than him.
