Lol, I feel like all these conversations come down to KG versus Dirk and as any sensible non-biased man, fukk Dirk. KG was the better basketball player and while I do give Dirk props for that finals run, to me thats one of the most impressive runs I've seen, still doesn't negate that basketball as a whole is played on both ends and I dont think the difference between Dirks offense compared to KG is as wide as KGs defensive impact. Its annoying that people say he didnt show up in playoff games because two of the biggest games of his career, he carried his teams, Game 7 against Sacramento and Game 6 against the Lakers to clinch the title. I remember more games from the playoffs but because he didnt have sustained playoff success, I cant really be upset. But at no point during those early First Round exit years did the Wolves actually have a better team than anyone they played. And when he actually got talent that could match his in 03, he won MVP, got the #1 seed, made it to the WCF where Cassell got hurt then it was up to the likes of Troy Hudson, Fred Hoiberg, Trenton Hassell to pick up the scoring slack.
After KG got traded he immediately turned the Celtics around, should have won MVP, did win DPOY and then won a title. They probably would have won at least one more if he hadn't already ran himself into the ground. And the Wolves didnt make the playoffs for 14 years
His loyalty cost him from a wins perspective but he literally carried a franchise, cultivated a fan base to actually care about professional basketball while the front office seemingly actively working against him. 02-03 03-04 KG is my favorite basketball I've ever watched. I dont have a ranking because my bias wont allow me to put anyone over KG because Duncan is a Center
