Not true, at all. A team doesn't have to be better in order to win a series, they just need to get the right breaks at the right time.

You don't have to be a better team, but once you beat your opponent you are considered a better one. Plus both teams were healthy, none of them were missing their main players or something.

I disagree. I still think the 2016 warriors are better than the 2016 Cavs as constructed. the 04 lakers are better than the 04 pistons. Breaks, mentally lapses amongst other things play a role in why teams lose.

And to be honest the spurs did blow that series. From the last seconds of the 4th in game 6, to Tim Duncan missing a bunny and letting lebron run a circus with much space in game 7. There was a few things the spurs could of done better to secure that series but didn’t.

but the teams you mentioned failed to win a championship, so what is the purpose for the playoffs then? Should we just have a regular season and use some measurements of which team looks the best to us?

It's such a simple logic, you beat somebody and you are considered the better one. Luck factor is in every sports too.

btw im not talking about which team is better on paper, im talking about getting the job done

They barely won.

Literally needed the other team to massively choke in order to win.

Kawhi and Manu missing clutch FTs, Manu with 2 TOs in the last 2 minutes of Game 6, Tim Duncan missed bunny, and of course the poor defensive rebounding leading to the iconic Ray Allen shot.

Sorry, but I can't put them above the Bulls or Lakers teams that straight up dominated the the competition. Or even the Warriors teams. Most of the Spurs squads get the nod over them, as well.

You run that 2013 Finals series 10 times and I'm not so sure Miami wins even half of those series.

That's not GOAT shyt.

a win is a win, whats so hard to understand? If you are truly a greater team you don't choke the series then, every second counts.

you are mentioning bulls, lakers and warriors but their teams had their opponents choking games too like thunder blowing 3-1 lead or back in 90s when malone choked from free throw line against bulls, or that dumbass charles smith not dunking the ball to make the series 3-0, or blazers choking game 7 in LA back in 2000. Every franchise that won championships had some luck in it too.

I wasn't specifically talking about the '13 Finals, just in general. The best team doesn't always win the championship every year - the team who gets the right breaks at the right time always does though. Always.

Right.

Breaks go certain ways. There's always luck involved. Chance always plays a factor. No doubt.

But that 2013 NBA Finals was on the level of Falcons-Patriots SB, Seahawks-Patriots SB, Warriors-Cavs 2016 level of chokery.

Spurs were up 3-2 and had a solid lead with minutes/seconds remaining. They blew it. Props to the Heat for winning.

But just like I ain't putting the 14-15 Pats or 16-17 Pats or 15-16 Cavs up there as GOAT squads, I'm not putting the 12-13 Heat up there, either.

Great comeback. Great resiliency and determination. But there are other squads that absolutely MOPPED the floor with the opposition. They left ZERO doubt as to who the best team was that particular year.

The 2012-2013 Miami Heat are not that.

Why compare a single elimination win or go home football game to a best of 7 series in basketball? If anything football, not basketball, is the one sport where the best team doesn’t always win (01 Rams, 07 Patriots) or even make the super bowl (98 Vikings)
