At this point he’s Top 5. Just on consistency. He hasn’t had a wack or subpar period from 1999-2018. That’s almost 20 years. Pete Rock, DJ Premier, The RZA, Buckwild, Da Beatminerz, Havoc and many other of his predecessors have had meh periods or are pale comparisons to their prime selves. And it seems like there’s more he can do. The others I’ve mentioned I no longer really look forward to their projects and have doubts whether they can really do anything on ALC’s level right now.

So whose the 20 you have ahead of him ? :dwillhuh:

My dude, I been listening to rap all my lizzife...it's too many people dope at making beats to just Alc is top 20.
I'll take...

Premier
Timbaland
Quik
Battlecat
RZA
Dr. Dre + 1
Erick Sermon
The Ummah (as a collective)
Daz & Soopafly
Paul & Juicy
Nasheim & Carlos
The Neptunes (as a group, none of that "just Pharrell" garbage)
Ant Banks
T-Mixxx
Ski
D-Dot (who now that I think about it kinda did Alc 's style first)
Rick Rock
Bink
The Beatnuts
Rashad Smith (who is immensely slept-on)

That's 20 right there, and I ain't said Teddy Riley, Mannie Fresh, Easy Mo Bee, EZ Elpee,
Mr. Walt, Nottz, Hi-Tek, True Master, Wildstyle, Pimp C, Beats By The Pound, 1/2 Ounce,
DJ Pooh, Carl Mo, Organized Noize, Alchemist's teacher: DJ Muggs,
or chosen my favorite member of D.I.T.C. yet...

You could say the same thing about Alc.
the last classic Alc beat everybody knew was "Bang Bang (Shoot 'Em Up)".

Not to say he ain't making fire, but how do his hits and/or classics stack up with the rest of this list?
