I'm probably gonna get some flack for this, but how can Phil be ranked so high with the teams he coached? He had MJ and Pip in one era, and then Kobe/Shaq in another, of which 3 are top 20 all time, and the 4th is top 50 all time. Here would be my list:

1. Brown

2. Auerbach

3. Pop

4. Riley

5. Phil

I think Coaches 1-4 can do what Phil did. I don't think Phil can do anything better than coaches 1-4. And this is coming from a Bulls fan who watched the Unbeatabulls in the 90s

wait

the brown you are referring to

is this Larry Brown?

He's Clearly top 5 - In No Order

1. Jackson

2. Riley

3. Aurerbach

4. Popovich

5. Brown?

This is my list too. Maybe put Red in front of Riley. All of these coaches coached all time great players so Phil shouldn't be looked at negatively just because he was blessed with Jordan Shaq and Kobe.

He took the no offense Pistons to a championship, and made AI's team contenders. He has one of the all time best win records. Nobody's done more with less.

:heh:

RICK CARLISLE made the no offense pistons contenders...

Larry Brown is the ultimate opportunist, he will throw you under the bus with the quickness, and is a total scumbag and snake in old man's clothing.

With the intangible said...

This dude has been coaching since 1969. in FOURTY FOUR YEARS of coaching I'd hope to god you stumbled across 2 championship teams. NOTHING he does impresses me besides his ability to like with a bold face. He now takes cushy coaching jobs with a high fail rate so he won't look bad...like the Knicks with an awful roster, the bobcats, and now SMU.

Larry brown is so far down my list, I'm shocked his name is listed here. He is not a BAD COACH, but is he really much better than Paul Westhead??? Westhead is like the anti-larry brown but had almost as much success as him and would've easily won an NCCA title if Gathers hadn't passed.

He's top 5.

Once you get to the top 5 it's all nitpicky from there, but I'd go:

1. Red
2. Pop
3. Phil
4. Riley
5. Daly

Red and Pop over Phil and Riles because they more or less developed the talent they had. Riles and Phil were always given talent more or less. I'd take Chuck Daly over the Lenny Wilkens/Larry Browns
