Those games were against two of the best defenses (at the time) showed his ability.
he averaged just 17ppg against the celtics in the first round, one of the worst playoff teams (of all time)
Those games also showed his ability.

you right my bad that excuses kyrie's performance. Wade, a nikka with mulitple rings and years of playoffs games under his belt, has one game where he had one assist.
meanwhile kyrie in just his 7th career playoff game as a point guard already has one game with zero while getting cooked defensively. you make a good point. he's averaging slightly worse numbers than wade's worst ever playoffs so i guess that makes him better.

How can Kyrie get assists when LeBron is out there putting up gaudy assist numbers, bailing the defense out with jumpers and turning the ball over left and right?

LeBron had like 7 assists in the 1st quarter because he was handling the ball pretty much the entire time, had his assists with a playoff career high (or tied) because the ball stayed in his hands. Then Kyrie tweaked his ankle, so Kyrie was excluded from the game pretty much.

Trying to put Kyrie on the summer jam screen is a bad idea. He's not a top notch defender but he doesn't just watch the offensive player like Harden or Lillard. I legit didn't think he would have a bad game in this series, so for him to even have one is amazing to me. I expect a 30+ point performance in game 4, he really is one of the best scorers I've ever watched at the point guard position.
He wouldn't if he could walk on both feet properly. But like he said he can't use that as an excuse. :manny:

So you're saying he's playing poorly because of Lebron?

Pretty much. LeBron never really let Kyrie establish a rhythm and a feel for the ball. He spent most of his time taking jumpers, dishing it out to Shumpert/Jones/Smith and never really made a conscious effort to allow Kyrie to work. After the ankle tweak Kyrie DEFINITELY couldn't get into the game. I only really remember Kyrie taking like one shot in the fourth which was a missed three, and every time he tried to drive his ankle pretty much gave out on him and he had no lift

he needs to learn how to play off the ball, if his only role is as a scorer he needs to diversify his game a little rather just breaking people down off the dribble and nothing else.

The same should be said about LeBron though, LeBron is a terrible off-ball offensive player and doesn't play the small forward position. Kyrie can at least be a solid spot up player, but for this to work LeBron is going to need to give the ball up from time to time to let Kyrie get into the game

i always thought lebron was a good off ball player, :yeshrug:

i mean you can throw him a lob pretty much anywhere around the rim like blake griffin. he gets good positioning in the post, and he can still spot up (maybe not elite but defenders aren't playing off him either)

he's not going to be doing alot of back door cuts like wade likes to do but still alot more options.

LeBron's always going to get the benefit of the doubt here though, and he should. He's the best player in the league, multiple-time MVP, former scoring champ with two titles... he's probably not the one who needs to be adjusting his game.
