Intentional foul, broke Kenny's risk just as he was hitting his stride as a professional. I really loved that Nets team - Kenny was my favorite college player all time (tied with Randolph Childress) and Drazen is one of my favorite players ever.

Wow. I'd completely forgotten that. Holy Randolph Childress. There's a name I haven't said in years.

At least Kenny got a baby by spinderella.

Could we derail this thread into a Derrick Coleman discussion?

I can see one day Dwight surpassing Ewing but he's not there yet. People in this thread are dissing Ewing and underestimating how great he was in his prime. Talking about he was always getting dunked on. The reason for that is because you have to actually challenge a player to get dunked on. Something a lot of these "centers" today don't do for fear of getting posterized.

- Garnett was the best player on a championship winning team. Ewing never won a championship.

- Garnett is a former MVP. Ewing is not.

- Garnett a vastly superior defender to Patrick Ewing and a former DPOY.

- Garnett is a better passer and rebounder.

- Garnett is a better free throw shooter

- Garnett has way more first team All NBA Appearances and first team all defensive appearance

- While never seen as an offensive juggernaut and perhaps not as potent as Ewings, Garnett has a well rounded offensive game that stretches from the post to damn near the 3 point line. Add all the things Garnett does better than Ewing + his superior shelf of personal accomplishments, I don't see how you can't comprehend the general opinion that KG was a superior player.

* Kevin McHale owed Danny Ainge a favor or two for KG to end up in Boston. KG wasn't the best player on that team. You could make a case for Allen or PP being better than KG. Hell they almost beat Orlando without KG the next year.

* Garnett is not a Vastly Superior defender to Patrick, Ewing is 6th all time in blocks and you can KG is only a few decimals ahead of Pat when it comes to DRTG NBA & ABA Career Leaders and Records for Defensive Rating | Basketball-Reference.com.

* Tyson Chandler & Marc gasol are DPOY, they're not better defenders than Patrick Ewing. Patrick wasn't good with the media, mix in Mutumbo, Jordan, Pippen, Payton, Zo. No Shame in winning the award.

* Garnett's MVP year < Ewings best year

* I'll give KG as a better passer, one of the best passing bigs ever.

The book on KG was that he was fukking loser, highest paid player that couldn't get out of the 1st round. Teams up with 2 other HOF'ers and now is a borderline top 20 player of all time?

The mop boy earned his keep at MSG back then.

And yeah, Ewing being ugly and Jordan being handsome really sort of played out like a soap opera in real life. It was surreal.

CHARLES SMITH DUNKS ONE AND THE WORLD IS DIFFERENT DAMMIT!!!!!

THIS!!!! IF STARKS WAS 3/18 instead of 2/18. IF 6'10" Smith could just DUNK that thing!

If Ray Allen missed that shot, Lebron would be a bum ranked below Kobe. Ray Allen hit it and now Lebron is in contention with MJ for GOAT!

Ewing was a couple of missed shots from being one of the all time greats. He's still my center. Ugly sweaty center but he's my center. fukk that. I still rock his jersey. :to:

On draft express he was listed at 6'11 without shoes. And I remember his first couple of years at Wake they said he was 6'10 but by time he was a junior and a senior he was listed at 6'11.

I've seen Jameer Nelson's pre-draft measurements on that same site, range from 5'10.25-5'11, and Nowitzki @ one point was always listed as 6'11, then all of a sudden he's 7'0? :wtf: So Iono, I thought numbers never lied? :bryan:

Lol. KG finished 2nd in MVP voting that year and wasn't the best player on the team? The Celtics were the worst team in the NBA the year before he showed up, but he wasn't the best player on the team?

:pachaha:

Anyone who says Pierce or Allen were ever the best player on the Celtics when they were all together is a fool. It went from being KG's team to Rondo's - and that Rondo part is debateable because when it mattered most(the playoffs) KG was always the best player on the team even in his twilight years(See: 2011 playoff run, 2012 playoff run).

I just fleshed out the reasons for you homie. Believe what you wanna believe, but most people will tell you KG is better than Pat for the reasons I listed. And if you want to get into advanced stats, KG's career Player Effeciency Rating is 2 points higher.

Well on that site you linked to Dirk wasn't even listed at 6'11 and I am pretty sure he is at least that tall. These are the combine measurements and as close to the real height as we will get. But you also gotta account for players putting on shoes with thick soles and lifts in them. Hell Spencer Hawes went from just over 6'10 barefoot to over 7'1 in shoes. I think Duncan is a legit 6'11 without shoes myself but in the grand scheme of things does being 6'11 or 7'0 really make a difference.

So what I get is KG is better because he became a Celtic, missing the playoffs 4 straight years in his prime is laughable.

Some of y'all here have the nerve to say he's better than Duncan?
