He's a better defender than many on that list. Dude had an ol man game from the time he came into the league. His age finally caught up to his style of play.
Dude plays like he came straight out if an episode of The White Shadow. Too nice with the dribble for big guys to guard him and too big and a bully when trying to defend him with smaller dudes. And he's STILL doing it after all these years. I'm glad Bron respects him enough to call him a rival. Real recognizes real
Definitely right about the defense. Specially when it comes to Nique. How you gonna be that athletically gifted and be a damn traffic cone on defense.
While Alex English does have very good offensive numbers, that has to do a lot with the style of play of that era, and that Nuggets squad as a whole. English wasn't a horrible defender as people make him out to be, but I'd give Pierce the defensive nod over him.
Worthy suffers from being on a stacked squad and his skillset is overlooked. He had a deadly post game, very efficient scorer, and he knew how to turn it up in the playoffs. The only argument I see for Pierce is that Worthy didn't have to deal with defenses keying in on him because he wasn't the first option.
Nique is another guy you could make an argument for Pierce. Nique is the better scorer, despite lack of range with the jumper, but Pierce is definitely the better defender and playmaker.
Those are the only guys I could think about putting Pierce ahead on that list.
