Where does Slick Rick rank in your opinion?

The man has great (both funny and genuine) lyrics, great songwriting, an excellent flow and delivery and he's a brilliant storyteller. He's got a certified classic with The Great Adventures of Slick Rick. Also has influenced every emcee from Snoop to Mos Def all the while collaborating with them as well and holding down his own style without ever really sounding out of place.

I know that he didn't have a lot of time to really work on his second album because he was about to serve some time but I always though it was a good album:







And then his comeback album in 99' was a really good comeback album. Him and OutKast working together was great. The video was great too:

In my humble opinion, you cant rank emcee's like Slick Rick

Influenced so many artists that also went on to make bonafide classic hip hop music, dude is a genuine innovator within the music. and still gets referenced quoted or straight up bitten.

He's more often than not, especially in a certain age range, most of your top 5's favorite rapper.

How you do you rank that type of stature?

But props for even discussing a legend like Rick The Ruler, high as fukk right now listening to Great Adventures.
