his formula was never designed to have any longevity, and he didnt switch it up so...

dude needs to make a grown man album. "the paper i get it" "sunday morning", shyt like that. and then hang it up

I think "The Paper" is a song that illustrates why he isn't hot anymore. Technically it's a good song (dope beat, good flow, good hook) but he's done it all before. The worst thing about it is the lack of memorable lines, he's just saying super generic street shyt.

Most of the time when people say "his music didnt evolve" or "he didnt switch his style" they cant even tell you what they mean by that, Jay Z and Eminem has had longevity but did their music evolve or did it get worse and shytted on by the same bloggers who criticize 50 for going back to his old style?

When he dropped Curtis they said "we want that old 50", he gave you old 50 and now people say he never changes his subject matter, dumbass nikkas

Street shyt may not be at the forefront of mainstream hip hop right now but theres still and always will be a lane for it, otherwise Chief Keef who had a big buzz last year, Rick Ross, or Meek Mill wouldve never blew up. Fact is.. 50 was one of those rappers who blew up and became huge out the gate and never established a real fanbase, just millions of bandwagoners who hopped off and onto Wayne.. and now Drake. There was nowhere to go but down after being as big as 50 became so quickly.

The only rappers that have come out since the 90s and still can sell a million albums are Jay Z and Eminem.. plenty of rappers have come and gone since then.. and every week this same thread pops up about 50 but I never see "What happened to DMX/Nelly/Ludacris" etc.. its quite simple that people just hopped off the bandwagon

I think a lotta you hit it on the nail with the lack of talent argument...

50 top 10 doa to me cuz he from my hood n was the biggest artist when i was in my teens

But he was neva amazin like a jay nas or eminem... He was raw but he never improved as a rapper or had the talent to reinvent himself...

Jay reinvented himself with blueprint n bp 2 connectin with a broader audience n changin his image from that of a street hustler who appealed to the ghetto to this more mature music mogul pop star image he has now...

Nas found himself again with stillmatic after failin with his mafioso image... He now has that mature preacher like hip hop legend aura about himself... He never sold like 50.... But he knows he has a core fanbase n since nastradamous he hasnt dissapointed them....

Eminem is totally different tho... Hell sell no matter what... But hes tried to reinvent himself since relapse n i guess it has worked out for him...

All in all... 50 had a pretty good run... Multiplatinum albums movies tours around the world... N he made really good investments so his money is good n he doesnt depend on music to survive....

I root for him to make a comeback but truthfully he washed up

50 made gangsta rap repetitive and burned too many bridges. Because of that, he killed off that sound altogether and people smartened up in the age of social networking and the Kanye/ Obama effect.

Man Down
My Gun go off
I still Kill
I Get Money
Fully loaded clip
All of me
Touch the Sky....

Was all vintage 50... For crying out loud, dude went back to his grandmother basement to write most of the actual album to get in that "zone".

It was "aggressive content" but the only songs that gave me that old feel were Gun Go Off and Man Down.. I Get Money was a banger of course but it didnt give me that 03 feel.

I felt that more later on with a lot of songs on the War Angel LP and BISD(Days Went By, Strong Enough, Crime Wave, The Invitation, So Disrespectful, etc..):ohlawd:

I used to intern in the music game and the one rule that I always heard at music conferences from veterans in the industry is don't ever burn bridges. Well this dude burned every bridge out there. Plus the dude as an artist really didn't have any depth when u got past that whole get shot 9 times thing. Lyrically he was never anything special either. I think when 50 talks about how hip hop is competition he forgets that competition isn't just dissing your competition but also collabing with your contemporaries and bodying those collabs. That's what Big, Nas, Jay, Pun G Rap, Kane, all did. He alienated himself from working with other artists and in the end he was never really all that talented to begin with. He was good at making melodic hooks but when people got tired of that sound and the beefs started getting tired, people just saw that dude was never nothing all that special.

When you beef with virtually everyone who is hot it puts you in a space where you gotta keep coming out with hits by yourself to stay relaxant. You can't jump on one of their songs cause they don't mess with you.

It's like how Jay can always get on Drake, Ross, Kendrick, Coles Albums
