I'll be pleasantly surprised if I'm off but they like to test it out in the arcades for a year so basically we ain't seeing shyt for awhile

Man I havent really hardcore played a Tekken since about 6ish 7

I remember when I was a kid 3 was my shyt though, I was a fukking beast at that shyt, it got to the point that I played that shyt on the hardest setting and had unlocked every possible thing but Doctor B, you had to beat Tekken Force 4 goddamn times, I barely beat that shyt once without throwing my controller in a childish fit of rage and tears :damn:

This I been waiting on Tekken Harada need to stop fukkin around and drop this shyt. I hope this next gen is a resurgence of fighters in general last gen was weak with the fighters compared to previous gens. But a highly doubt it it's looking like there wiill be less fighters this gen than last gen and More shooters if anything since the West is pretty much runnin the gaming industry :stopitslime:

In VF there's a code so to speak. It's clear as day what is used to counter what. Sidestepping for example. Linear moves are easily steppable. If somebody is sidestepping like crazy, then a sweep or a throw beats that etc. Ducking beats throws, mid attack beats ducking, I can go on and on, but it's not hard to understand in VF how to counter your opponent after you know the game's mechanics.

Tekken has so many character unique properties, and a loaded roster that it's just not as easy as this beats that or that beats this in the game. The real mind games are most prevalent on the highest of level of play... but for casual play, it's more so just knowing your juggles and pounding on people who don't know how to get up properly or some shyt.

All of that is a part of what makes Tekken great actually. Also, things like universal low parry and running attacks (although some characters have unique running attacks as well) . I always thought it was silly for VF to have a running movement and yet only 1/3 of the cast actually has running attacks. Vanessa has a got damn spear command move, but can't do that shyt out of a run (or anything else for that matter). That makes absolutely no sense.

Outside of sidestepping not being as useful/smooth as other 3d fighters, I feel most of your complaints of Tekken's systems are invalid and definitely disagree with it being more difficult to play than VF, as the timing of most moves are not nearly as strict and characters aren't as overly individualized as VF either (not really a knock at VF or other fighters that do that either tho). The only somewhat easier thing of VF's fighting mechanics over Tekken is VF's juggle system isn't quite as nuanced as Tekken's as Tekken's is more about a rhythm than outright speed.

It's what makes Tekken great, and it's also what makes it have the steepest learning curve which is what I stated in my first post in this thread. And honestly, I wasn't really complaining about Tekken, I was just explaining why it's harder to play/learn IMO than VF.

No it wasn't. Last gen's was the resurgence of fighters you fool. Street Fighter changed the game again and brought fighters back to the forefront last gen and damn near every classic fighting game series brought out some of their best iterations of their games last gen as well (Tekken with TTT2, KOF with XIII, VF with 5FS, MK9, Ultimate Mahvel 3). There even were really great brand new fighters created last gen (Persona 4 Arena, Blazblue, Skullgirls). Did you go to sleep all of last gen or something? What the fukk were you smoking when you thought that shyt?

Hopefully, this gen lives up to last gen's fighters, which unfortunately doesn't seem to be too much off to a good start just yet, but we getting there soon tho.

Oh ok, cool. We'll just agree to disagree on the learning curve part tho.

:manny:

Think of it like this...
Say there's somebody completely new to both franchises. You give them the latest Tekken (Tekken 6 I guess... Tekken Tag 2 is a different beast) iteration, and you give them the latest VF iteration.

This player doesn't have any previous knowledge of either game's mechanics or rosters/movesets. Which game would this player reach the level of being somewhat decent in first in your opinion and why?
