yeah channel surfing I catch my good friend raw. Watched a Roman promo and it was brutal.

1. Where is the instesity? Roman reigns was fighting backstage and the commentators were like

“ wow there really going at it :francis:

Then pure silence for a good minute

“Wow things are heating up :beli:

Awful just awful they sounded like they don’t wanna be there.

Bonus: kurt angle came out and he was talking with Roman reigns shyt sounded so forced.

Kurt: don’t do it..... it’s wrong :beli:

Roman: I gotta do.... what I gotta do :leostare:

Kurt: no Roman :beli:

Roman: I must...do it :leostare:

About the commentators, recently read a quote from Tom Phillips answering to the detractors saying he has no personality or charisma and saying something like:

"That's right, that's good! Because I'm not there to stand out myself, but to tell a story". (Paraphrasing, but that was the idea)

What's wrong with telling a story showing some emotion, some personality? Instead of reciting facts and pointing at what's happening on screen with the less amount of interest in your voice.

That sounds like a Vince ism.

Probably why he got rid of JR. Too mamy ppl liked JR instead of the crappy characters pn screen

Vince allegedly doesn't want commentary too excited, he had that issue with Mauro when he was on the main roster.

That's a trash excuse. There's a reason that movie voiceover guy (the guy that started damn near every trailer with "In a world...") got so much work over the years. There something about an epic sounding voice (whether it's natural tone or the person's personality) that makes you remember the story even more.

No matter how good, bad, or in between some of the attitude era moments were, they're burned into our collective thoughts because of JR and even King to a lesser extent.

You ain't lying. I put on an old RAW earlier this week on the Network and had it on in the background. JR and King still made me hyped just from their commentary.

Pritchard said on the Mania 9 episode that's why JR lost his spot. When he hired him, he loved his personality and passion that he showed while commentating. And as the years went on, he began to dislike those very same things.

Makes sense the guys after JR would be cookie cutter and not standout because that's exactly what Vince wants
