in this behind the music ep, the music dre said he grew up on p funk, james brown, isaac hayes, marvin gaye and his mom mentioned the dramatics, the temptations, earth and fire... so you gotta think, hopefully the next "dr. dre" grew up on great and classic music of the last decade and some change; music like maxwell, musiq soulchild, d'angelo, anthony hamilton, raphael saadiq, jill scott and badu. hopefully the next "dre" came up on those type of records and was influenced by artists like that durin' his upbringin'

I can't think of none. I just try to keep updated on the guys that worked with Dr Dre to get a piece of that feeling.

You would think it would be a fukkin ton of them in the mainstream with all this new beat making technology thats available now.But nope,we stuck hearing the same vst preset sounds and the same fukking octave jumping 808 bass.its like nobody is even trying to make good music that last more then a year now. Last years music is just that now days.

People love fast food meal in 10 minute that will make them hungry in a hour music these days.

I still prefer home cooked with love food and focused seasoning.

ye isn't dre status because Ye hasnt really had a Snoop or Em like Dre has. He did that Common Be album but besides that what other artists has he produced whole albums for? Blueprint 3 was trash. Maybe I'm forgetting some?

Be is pretty damn good though. Anyway, albums produced exclusively by just one producer became rare in the 00's. The mainstream formula of the 2000's had guys looking for go-to producers and producers who could give them a sound to appeal to a certain region.

Kanye does have Chance and Big Sean under his wing obviously no Snoop and Em though. You could say Jay/Ye was like Snoop/Dre even though Jay was the OG he benefited from Kanye's wave and it was a great pairing in chemistry.

I actually enjoy more Kanye beats than Dre beats.

there will never be no one like dre unless its an entirely new genre. music is free these days and does not carry the same sentiment as previous generations.

Ye had Sean Don and Cudi under his wing obviously not Em or Snoop but still pretty good

he didn't produce albums for neither of them. Cudi was getting on before Ye and even influenced 808s heavily. Ye let Sean linger around for years until Sean himself put in the work to get his popularity up. Of course Ye gave em a platform but nothing like what Dre did with Snoop and Em hands on with the music.

3ChordFold was a great project as well. @stomachlines if you're looking for modern day producers who are great musicians than Terrace is a good start. Also that nikka who does the 12 Reason To Die albums with Ghost.....Adrian Younge.
