Independent. Tariq proves you don't need cacs every time he makes and hidden colors. Expect a strong black ran Hollywood to emerge soon. Tyler Perry paving the way.

independent, especially with all the new tech

but we also have tons of black film markers doing that already, the only problem is the budget(backing) and distribution

Funny you make this thread...I just went to a panel yesterday in Baldwin Hills. Devon Franklin, who was Sony Pictures VP...just got his own first look deal and production company that's funded by Sony :whoo:, was the speaker. His story on how he got started was crazy. He interned in college at a non-profit in Oakland and worked with the breh who wrote Set it Off. That guy ended up recommending him to Will Smith. Devon then worked for Will's production company for a few years, then ended up getting hired at Sony. Some of the films he mentioned that he worked were Pink Panther 2 :lolbron:, Karate Kid, Pursuit of Happiness, Jumping the Broom(where he met Megan), and Heaven is For Real.

He said at Sony as a black exec...he dealt with shyt like being "mistaken" for the bathroom attendant:mjpls:, being the labeled the resident rapper :mjpls::mjpls:, and was given stereotypical black material to produce:mjpls::mjpls::mjpls:.

He worked under Amy Pascal, the fired Sony exec whose racist emails got leaked. He said while she had lapse of judgment in those emails, she's not a racist person. He said he's grateful for her because she looked out for him in getting hired, letting him do his religious stuff as an exec, and she's responsible for a lot of successful black movie deals (Kevin Hart, Eddie Murphy, Denzel etc)

His new production company apparently got the rights to He-Man franchise.....he said they'll be doing movies, cartoons, toys, etc.

I think we should create our own entertainment industry. Like we are already kinda doing that with stage plays and indie movies.
