J Cole was ALWAYS subpar but people embraced him because he SOUNDED like older rappers, not that he was ever doing them any justice with what he was saying.

Drake is both a better rapper AND song writer than he is.

Dudes stay addicted to that underdog music even when its underwhelming itself. Big Sean has better "underdog themes" in his rhymes than J Cole and has a much better delivery as well.

Cole has risen to the occasion a few times but he continues to fool his fans with his C-student level performance.

Cole had a good run with Sideline Story

A lot of y'all are lacking perspective

He had to hit records and the album sold well

fukk if you were disappointed he gave y'all nikkas 3 mix tapes of some real shyt

The only problem with Sideline story from a hiphopper critical point if view is the production was not as great as it should have been.

Big Sean is trash, and he is as good a rapper as Drake is. But fukk Big Sean. Give me an underdog song by Sean that is toppin' Rags to Riches.

Based on that studio pic, does it mean we're going to hear Cole's production thump a little harder :yeshrug:
