Saint's Row The Third is one of the few games I legitimately regret spending $60 for.

Improved graphics and an improved engine for what? Extremely limited customization, barren city, sidequest activities disguised as missions, idiotic story....I could go on :scust:

The pleas copped when the demo came out and people tried to say that it wasn't "what the full game had to offer" and then it was exactly what the game had to offer :trash:
They sure did limit the damn customization. i forgot that shyt. Copied and pasted those Saint stores all over the map selling the same bullshyt :camby:

I've played the entire series up to the last one with that Alien shyt and they pretty much just run together in my mind as copy and paste bullshyt after the second one. :coffee:

I loved the more balanced almost PC like feel of the first and the activities were fun as hell despite how hard they where. Three was the weakest but four wasn't so bad with the matrix-ish shyt they had you doing with the flying and what's not.

I was playing Prototype at the time and tossed it to the bushes for this title which is rare form for me 'cause I like to finish whay I start. Plus some of the missions were funny if not entertaining. The pimp with the voice box.....and let's not forget the Roddy Piper mission. :to::salute:

If they bring out a new one....in the same city AGAIN though....:camby:

Time to change cities..have multiple rivals to go against like in the 2nd one. Each one felt like its own story. Balance being serious and all out fukkery.

barren city,

This is what killed it for me. In these types of games, the city feeling alive and having somewhat meaningful activities to engage in is essential.
I have to have that or it gets boring really fast. SR3 went backwards in this aspect so much that they had to have made a concentrated effort to botch it the way they did.
SR2 felt semi alive. The peds would interact with you. They had their own little personality.
You had a shopping mall. Ect.
SR3 on the other hand was one of the most sterile city created in recent memory.
There was zero life. The peds were souless.
GTA for the most part got better at this with each iteration.
4 is my least favorite GTA title but it was the little things that made the city feel alive to me.
The incorporation of the series' own version of Internet and goofy side activities like online dating went a long way.
I didn't care for playing pool, but hanging out with the characters Niko befriended made Liberty City feel somewhat like a breathing metropolis.
5 took it further and added outlets to purchase vehicles, pick up side missions, interact with strangers, ect.
I wouldn't have put SR3 down as quick as I did if the city had a semblance of a pulse.
As it stands, it was one of the most robotic and uninteresting settings I'd ever seen and still is.

Saints row 1 and 2 are complete classics. The first one for it's goat multiplayer and gta knockoff feel and the 2nd one was just on a new level. That feeling when you going against some high tech japs, Jamaican mobsters, and fluke aryan brotherhood in the same game :wow:

How the city felt alive and you had the funny salute/compliment diss system. How SR had the assurance fraud and fuzz activities, how the city felt alive, how if you attacked a pimp in the game 5+ would come jump you, how the game had full-coop, and how you started out the game bringing the Choppa to the courthouse :mjlol:

Even the serious scenes were piff :mindblown:

What's lost in how the series started spiraling with corniness is that they switched development teams after #2 :francis:

SR/SR2 probably my favorite sandbox games OAT, the f***ery they pulled after the 2nd games is just.......:wow:

I agree. Saints Row 2 is my favorite game of ALL TIME and I never get tired of it. I love it, so when they started to come with all that corny bullshyt it went downhill and ruined the legacy. Honestly I only ever saw it as a series in its own right and never even thought of GTA.
