Not a fan of Joel Sherman but some great points :wow:

Robinson Cano and David Wright have played the exact number of games. You can look it up, 1,374 each.

It allows for a fair head-to-head comparison. Despite playing in parks unfavorable to offense — Shea and Citi — Wright actually has more homers (222) and a better slugging percentage (.506) than Cano (204/.504), a lefty shooting at the short Stadium porch.

Actually, it’s surprising how many edges Wright has — big ones, for example, in steals (183-38) and on-base percentage (.382-.355). If you use a stat that normalizes for park and league, such as OPS-plus, Wright leads (137-125) or a stat that also includes defense and baserunning, Wright leads in Wins Above Replacement (46.6-45.2).

Check the last 5 years though. I know Wright plays in Citi Field but he's missed games.

No one is giving him more than 150. And the Yanks will probably be that team.
It's either he'll take the 7 yrs, $175 million we offered him or he takes the 8 yrs, $200 million reportedly that the Mariners will offer him. Yankees shouldn't budge from their stance. There are not many teams especially today that are willing to pay an alleged 31 yr old that amount of money. Robbie is a great player, but it's about time Yankees put their foot down. Even $175 million is outrageous. He leaves then we have alternatives with Infante, he's not Robbie, but he'll do.
Anything more than 6 years-$100M is pushing it. It's time to start putting these ridiculous $200M deals to bed
y'all think Elsburry gets the deal he just got but Cano isn't gonna get atleast 200? Y'all must be crazy.

Last 5 years

.293.375.479.853134 OPS+
671 Games
91 Stolen Bases
92 HRs
331 BBs

314.369.530.899137 OPS+
801 Games
26 Stolen Bases
142 HRs
251 BBs

If you look at the HRs and SLG% then Cano destroys him but adjust for Parks and such its a minor difference
And Wright gets on Base slightly more

Both the same age
Cano plays a slightly more premium position

But wright signed up for a lot less money at age 29
Cano is 31 and wants a reported 300mm which in itself is a joke

Is he worth double than Wright at an older age. I think not :heh:

Wright gave them dudes a home town discount and he was only negotiating with one team. How much you'll think Wright would command in the open market? Dude is making 180 easily.

I'm not expecting him to sign for the same contract as Wright. Going forward hes the better player
He should be getting at least as much as Ellsbury.
A fair contract for both sides would be 7 years 175mm

Probably the only point he's made that I agreed with.
the overall numbers indicates that Wright is the better player
but I agree with the 5 year approach and say that Cano is the better player currently and probably will be for the rest of their careers
with that said, I think Cano is worth like 3 mil a year more than Wright
not 8 mil a year how people think
