I would only have current Lebron and Durant Over him, so top 3
Above Carmelo and Dirk... Below Lebron and Durant

Barkley was the ultimate TWEENER;
  • Too quick for PFs to guard on the perimeter
  • Too strong for SF to guard down low
  • At the same time Overpowered some PFs and Cs like they were mere guards.

Only person that seem to give Barley trouble at times were Xavier McDaniel and Anthony Mason. Noone on todays game really mimics his game. Only other tweener I've seen cause that similar matchup problem was Jamal Mashburn (one of my favorite heat players ever) but Mash was nowhere near as strong but made up for that with his sick handles

Barkley in his prime would be easily the 2nd best player in the league right now behind only Lebron
Ya'll acting like i just shytted on Him. I put him at number three in the league. He'd be a perennial MVP candidate.

My favorite player ever is Shawn Kemp. Shawn owned Rodman, could even own Malone or even Hakeem most of the time. Barkley gave him the most problems. To say that Barkley is trash at defence shows to me that you have not seen him enough.

I'm as big a Shawn Kemp fan as anyone breh, but when did he own Rodman and in what way? Rodman wasn't a scorer, he still did his thing against the Sonics in the Finals.

Maybe he held Malone, I cant remember. But as far as Olajuwon, the only reason Seattle dominated Houston in 95 or 96 was because they were really playing illegal defense the entire series. The got called for it a few times, but not everytime by any means

23.3ppg on 55% against one of the best big man defender is pretty good.

illegal defense against the rockets? They just double teamed hakeem everytime in the post, and they played the trap defense to perfection. They owned the Rockets till 97

"Yeah Ernie, its called defense, I mean I wouldn't know anything about it personally but I've heard about it through the grapevine.

And I couldn't find the exact quote but he had a quote saying '..I'd need another million a year to play defense.'

I'm a Barkley stan, favorite player of all time, any sport. But he was below average on defense, at least by the time he got to Phoenix. He used to be half a shot blocker with the Sixers.

what kind of defense are you expecting from someone who at best is 6'5 going against guys 6'9 and above?

It would be hilarious to see him match up wtih Blake Griffin. He'd probably wreck Griffin's confidence for the rest of his career. :sadcam:

I don't think some of you realize how athletic Chuck was

Charles was just as much a freak of nature in his younger days as Shaq and LeBron are. To be that short and fat but to be able to lead the fast break and also with the ability to dunk on you at will along with a superior post game is something we will probably never see again. And with the focus on defense now when evaluating a player these days I think Chuck would be even better in this era then he was then. Cause I think he would focus on it more with all the armchair critics who would give him shyt for it.

Only saying Charles Barkley will be the first to tell you Charles Barkley was not a good defender.
