Last nas album I could listen to where I wasn't constantly skipping tracks. I remember it snowing like a motherfukker in md when this album leaked to irc and I played it nonstop for weeks.

NO it wasn't

God Son isn’t a classic. Maybe a personal one but it’s far from a universal classic. It’s a solid project.

What exactly keeps God's Son from being a certified classic? Is it just universal acclaim? Please, enlighten me, I won't argue anything you say, I just want to know the reasoning.

There's no definite appreciation thread for this joint so decide to up this one for its 21st !!! anniversary.

Vividly remember listening to this around the same time as 50's Aftermath debut and although love both God's Son is the album that made me look into lyrics way more than before.

To me personally this is the 1st album that I've looked at as a mature/grown up joint in the genre. Must've been others before it but the inclusion of personal things throughout it made it stand out.

Can't believe it's been this long since its release, would recommend this to anybody new dismissing hip hop for its controversial content. It's a diverse album, not without flaws, but the end product should really be celebrated more.

1. "Get Down" 9/10
2. "The Cross" 8/10
3. "Made You Look" 10/10

Purgatory
The one album in the canon that I never revisit. Started off with bangers and ended with unlistenable duds to me

God's Son switches with Life Is Good and KD3 for that 5th spot. Magic 3 is up there too:
